BEIJING, February 28, 2020 (Xinhua) – China's Ministry of Public Security on Wednesday (February 28) announced that a group of suspects were involved in cross-border telecommunications fraud affecting Chinese citizens. A total of 268 people were deported from Laos into Chinese police custody.
These groups of suspects, including eight financial parties and 54 gang leaders and core members, are involved in more than 1,570 related cases in various local regions in China. This campaign is another important development in joint law enforcement cooperation between Chinese and Lao police.
The report said that Chinese police sent a working group to Laos in January to implement this cooperation. Police forces from both countries raided many crime hotspots in Laos and took strict measures against them. They were able to arrest the suspects and confiscate more than 2,400 mobile phones and computers that were used to commit the crimes.
The Ministry pledged to strengthen cooperation in police affairs with the countries concerned to pursue perpetrators. In addition to deterring related crimes, including protecting the safety of people’s lives and property. Currently, the related case is under investigation.
