Lions News: CJ Gardner-Johnson really flashes in swagger and humor

Our readers are familiar with the free agency comments from analysts and players talking about Brad Holmes’ secondary turnaround this offseason. Cameron Sutton and Emmanuel Moseley are both good players, but CJ Gardner Johnson has put this free agent class ahead. Not only is he a great player on the field, but he also seems to be happy off the field.



After the team’s media introduced Gardner Johnson with a highlight reel we noticed Thursday, they proclaimed themselves “Best nickel corner in the NFL(It actually is Kind of a big deal) was a special guest for this week On the Twentyman in the Huddle podcast. Right off the bat, Gardner Johnson joked to the host that the name of the podcast was a catchphrase for a lot of guys on the field, so you know it was a fun interview.

One of Gardner Johnson’s most amazing stories is how he was feeding Chicago Bears Wide receiver Javon Wims to an incredibly stupid penalty (which Wims is fired) and create a critical interception for the Saints defense in 2020. There is clearly a certain New Orleans anime fan that I will miss, but my God Gardner Johnson has such confidence, bravado, and humor that it will be so much fun to watch. I mean, look at him grinning at Tom Brady in 2021 after a future Hall of Fame He was stripped of the ball in a scramble:

The second fun video that appeared on the team’s official YouTube channel over the weekend was Friday’s Notecard Questions with CJ Gardner-Johnson. Again, from the hilarious interviews he’s given over his career with other bands, we know “Ceedy Deuce” for sure. Keep it real. Now, to understand his answer to the question “If you weren’t a soccer player, what would you be”, just check out the dedicated guy strings (eg, This is amazing in an interview after a game against Tampa Bay); knows work!
