Warner Bros. Awards. Viewers get a closer look at “Barbie” in a new official trailer. While the movie’s story has been mostly kept under wraps, the new trailer teases what Greta Gerwig’s summer tent pole is all about, as Barbie and Ken are set to officially Enter the real world on July 21st.
Tired of their days in Barbie Land (where apparently everyone is called Barbie and Ken), Margot Robbie’s Barbie and Ryan Gosling’s Ken are stepping outside the borders of their home country. New footage shows Barbie and Ken exploring the modern world, which is very different from the safe haven of their pink-coded plastic lifestyle. While on Venice Beach, Barbie hits on a man who slaps her butt, and she and Ken end up posing with some LAPD footage. Meanwhile, people in our world are starting to freak out that a real-life Barbie is walking the streets of Los Angeles
Gerwig and his Barbie squad tried to keep the movie’s plot hidden from audiences, but when photos and videos of them in Los Angeles went viral last year, fans began to learn about the film’s plot.
“I can’t tell you how scared we were, by the way,” Robbie told Jimmy Fallon last year of the group photo that garnered widespread attention online. “We seem to be laughing and having fun, but inside we are dying. Death. I was like, This is the most humiliating moment of my life.”
“I knew we had some exteriors to shoot in LA, and I knew once you did an exterior shoot, you got satin. There’s probably going to be a small crowd of people who would notice because, you know, we stand out a little bit in those outfits. So I knew That there will be a little bit of interest, and maybe some pictures will show up there, but not like it happened,” Ruby added.
Besides Robbie and Gosling, the “Barbie” movie is set to feature a star-studded cast, including Will Ferrell, Connor Swindells, Nicola Coughlan, Emerald Fennell, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, and Sharon Rooney. . , Anna Cruz Cain, Rito Aria, Jimmy Demetriou, Emma Mackie, Dua Lipa, Issa Rae, Hari Nef, Alexandra Shipp, Simo Liu, Scott Evans and Nkoti Gatua.
Gerwig serves as a director and co-writer on Barbie alongside her husband, Noah Baumbach. The film is produced by Mattel Films, Heyday Films, and Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment. Josy McNamara of LuckyChap and Ynon Kreiz of Mattel serve as executive producers.
