Usha Vance is the wife of the vice presidential candidate JD Vance. There's an interesting personal and political background to who has the right to be “No. 2 Lady” if Donald Trump wins this year's presidential election.
Usha, now 38, is the daughter of Krish and Lakshmi Chilukkuri from Andhra Pradesh. Coastal states of India they migrated to San Diego. California gave birth to Usha there.

Usha Vance holds a BA in History from Yale University. and a Masters in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge. and earned a law degree from Yale University. It was here that he met Vance.
In Hillbilly Elegy, written by Vance, Usha said he was described as “Yale's spiritual mentor” and encouraged him to pursue opportunities he never thought existed.
The two met at a class function. And Vance said he “rarely” fell in love with Usha.
Both formed debate teams while at Yale. The couple had three children, Ivan, Vivek and Mirabelle, before graduating in 2013 and marrying a year after graduation.
After graduation, Usha Vance was a legal assistant to Brett Kavanagh when he was a judge on the Court of Appeals in Washington. After that, he worked with Chief Justice of the High Court John Roberts in the same capacity.

According to an open database for political careers, Usha Vance was a registered Democrat in 2014 before voting Republican since 2022.
In 2015, he joined Munger, Doles & Olsen, a law firm in Washington. She has been described as “very progressive” and resigned this week after her husband, Vance, was selected as her vice presidential running mate. And his profile on the company's website has been removed.
On Monday, he spoke with SFGate News following Vance's selection. He said he was leaving the company to “focus on taking care of our family.”
In terms of religion, Usha Vance follows Hinduism like her father and mother. Her husband, Vance, was raised under the Christian faith. Although he later had a history as an atheist during his bachelor days, he was baptized to become a Catholic in 2019.

In an interview with Fox and Friends, she answered a question about the chances of becoming a second woman: “I'm not interested in changing anything in our life right now. But I really believe in JD, I love him very much, and we'll see what happens in our life.
