Meta Quest users can sign up for a new service that gives them access to the top two titles each month. dubbed Meta Quest +the VR subscription costs $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year.
The first hint of the subscription service came in March when a Twitter user Find out a description of the game pass feature of the Meta Quest app. earlier this month, Another Twitter user Monitor the Meta Quest+ title and price in the app selection for the Meta Quest app.
Mark Zuckerberg confirmed Meta Quest+ on Monday, noting in a statement that it’s currently available for Quest 2 and Pro. There will also be Quest 3 support when the headset launches this fall.
The first games to be introduced are the action rhythm game FPS Pistol Whip and the arcade adventure game Pixel Ripped 1995. In August, players will experience Walkabout Mini Golf and Mothergunship: Forge.
Users keep all titles as long as they remain a Meta Quest+ subscriber.
The Meta subscription service would set the company apart from PlayStation, which doesn’t specifically offer VR gaming through its PlayStation Plus subscription.
“Subscription services have been a great way to get more for your money since the days of Blockbuster,” the company wrote in its announcement. “At $60 per month, Meta Quest+ combines affordability with the convenience of a curated experience. We’re excited to give Meta Quest gamers a new way to explore everything their headset has to offer.”
Meta is also offering an introductory discount – users who register now through July 31 pay $1 for the first month only.
The company recently announced more games coming to VR headsets, including Stranger Things VR, Assassin’s Creed, and Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord.
