Miley CyrusThe plane had to make an emergency landing after being struck by lightning on Tuesday night.
The singer was traveling to Paraguay to top the second day of the Asunciónico festival, but her plans were scrapped after the plane was rerouted to safety.
“To my fans and everyone concerned after hearing about my flight to Asuncion. Our plane was caught in an unexpected big storm and struck by lightning,” Cyrus wrote on social media.

Cyrus, 29, added, with a red broken heart: “My crew, team, friends and family who were flying with me safely after an emergency landing. Unfortunately we couldn’t fly to Paraguay. I love you.”

Cyrus showed a video of the terrifying situation from her seat on the plane. While photographing the view outside her plane’s window, the black sky suddenly lights up with a flash of lightning. Passengers can be heard shouting loudly.
According to its website, 2022 Asunciónico is “one of the biggest rock festivals in Paraguay” that usually takes place in March every year. Local reports say Cyrus’ performance was expected to draw a large crowd.
The last festival was held in 2019.
Cyrus was performing in South America. Over the weekend, the pop star turned rock star performed at Lollapalooza Argentina and Lollapalooza Chile in a flirty jumpsuit.
