The results are in, and the new Miss America is crowned.
Miss Wisconsin Grace Stanky was chosen as Miss America 2023 Thursday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Stank, 20, is an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying nuclear engineering. She is also a classical violinist.
She played the violin in the beauty pageant talent competition and wowed the judges with her answers during the red carpet portion and final round.
Miss New York Taryn Delaney Smith was crowned runner-up. Miss Texas Avery Bishop was crowned runner-up.
Stanke won a $100,000 scholarship and will embark on a year-long tour to raise awareness about nuclear power and carbon-neutral energy sources, According to Vogue.
Stank said she was “excited” about the opportunities to discuss these issues and represent “women of power”.
“As Miss America, I represent this organization. If they ask more questions, I’m able to preface by saying, ‘This is not the organization’s view, this is my personal view as Grace Stank’ and I could go on and on about it — especially when it comes to things like Nuclear energy and many other hot political topics.
