The idea of modifying old consoles to become a portable device is something that has been presented for a long time in many projects, whether it is the PS2, the Dreamcast or the Wii that we will see a lot. However, for the most part, everyone tends to agree that upgrading a device with a battery life of less than 2-3 hours is a waste of time due to the high power consumption. There is also the risk of damage, so it may not be of much value in terms of actual use.
Recently, there was a new project from a user called Eveltgriffin and Whisk It’s stunning and perhaps one of the smallest modified game consoles out there at 60 x 60 x 16mm, or the equivalent of a keychain. It’s called the Nintendo Kawaii, and it shrinks the size of a Wii player down to a small size with bright, eye-catching colors. You have to connect to a specially designed dock that connects to a display via USB-C and supports a wireless Wii Remote as well as a GameCube joystick slot for playing old games. It also has a passive cooling system, so you don’t have to worry about heat.
Unfortunately, the team didn't specify how the processor was modified to be able to run the game despite the circuit board being miniaturized, but let's just say it's a really cool idea. However, there were some viewers who thought it was a bit risky since the person had announced a commercial production since the Kawaii was a game console that had been “replaced” by the Wii and was still called Nintendo, however, this was not a work in progress. The first of them so we'll have to keep an eye on that. For those who want to see the design images, try following them below.
