The test was conducted at the UPS premises in Germany
German investigators visited the premises of the number one Swiss bank in Frankfurt and Munich on Tuesday.
UBS’ premises in Munich and Frankfurt were raided, Der Spiegel reported on its website on Tuesday.
Prompting confirmation from the public prosecutor’s office, the German magazine linked the evidence-seeking measures in the framework of a money-laundering investigation opened against Russian oligarch and telecommunications magnate Alisher Usmanov.
The three-key bank confirmed the searches to AWP and assured that it is fully cooperating with authorities, without giving further details.
Last April, Germany officially seized one of the world’s largest yachts owned by Alisher Usmanov as part of sanctions against Russia following the outbreak of war in Ukraine. “Dilbar” is a 156-meter-long ship, estimated by Forbes magazine at about 600 million dollars.
In September, several properties of Russian oligarchs targeted by European sanctions were raided in Germany, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg. According to sources close to the investigation, the inspected properties belong to Mr Usmano.
In 2021, Billan magazine ranked him tenth in its ranking of the 300 biggest fortunes, with assets ranging from 15 to 16 billion francs.
