The South China Morning Post reported that the couple were travel bloggers. He died while climbing a mountain in Japan with a friend. His wife jumped into a rapids river to save her husband but they were both eventually swept away. Police found a body downstream, both wearing life jackets.

According to Chinese media reports, the deceased was a 35-year-old Chinese woman, known on social media as “Agu”, while her Japanese husband, whose identity has not been identified, was 41. Both were well-known outdoor enthusiasts who often created content to document their travels together.

On June 29, the two went mountain climbing in Gifu Prefecture, central Japan, with another friend, a 48-year-old Chinese woman. While climbing, Agu's husband went into a river that was overflowing.

Before Agu threw him a 100 meter long rope. The pair tried to swim to the other side to tie the rope to something. Before they were swallowed by the recurring current.

Agu briefly spoke to her friend before deciding to jump into the water alone to help her husband. But she was immediately swept away by the current. A friend who was travelling with him immediately alerted the police to come and help.

The police discovered this several hours after receiving the notification and found the bodies of the two people downstream. He was wearing a life jacket but after being taken to the hospital it was found that the couple had drowned.

As for the river in which the accident occurred, it was about 80 meters wide, and at some points it reached 20 meters deep. At that time, it was found that the water level in the river had risen and the current was strong due to the rain that fell the day before the accident.

Agu and her husband did not get married until February 2023, and the man also wrote on social media that he chose mountains as his lifelong hobby. Now he chooses to climb mountains with his girlfriend. I hope this is the beginning of a happy adventure.
