It became an internet sensation after the Instagram account of Kuwait News Agency Inside released a video of three pairs of sandals in a glass cabinet. With the caption: “Fashionable sandals sold for 4,590 riyals in Saudi Arabia (about 43,624 baht)” as previously reported.
After the clip was shared, Thai netizens went to comment in droves. A heated debate ensued. To the ordinary sandals with familiar faces that are sold by the hundreds in Thailand.
Recently, Pia Sosothikul, Director of Marketing at Nanyang, posted on Facebook about this topic, saying:
“Now there is a trend towards Nanyang sandals and they are sold in Saudi Arabia. They sell for up to 40,000 baht per pair.
I would like to clarify that this is not true. This clip is an old item that came from China. And someone brought it up again. So I studied to find out.”
Meanwhile, Nanyang has taken to Facebook to explain the situation. Like this story: “Funny story from abroad! Rumor has it that the sandals are selling for 40,000 baht! Don’t worry, the Elephant Dao sandals are priced at 109,000 baht as usual.
