NFL Draft: Should the Detroit Lions get out of the #6 pick — and can they?

Late last week, Ryan Matthews wrote an interesting article about whether the Detroit Lions should trade their sixth pick in 2023. NFL Draft And what it will cost them in the end. It would be a bold move for the Lions, but one could make the argument that Detroit has given themselves this opportunity by accumulating draft picks, strong drafting, and effective use of cap space in free agency.

On this week’s PODcast, we open up the discussion to the rest of the crew about trading the Lions. For example, while I think General Manager Brad Holmes’ history suggests that if he had a decision on a player, a trade certainly isn’t out of the question, Detroit’s current position might, instead, motivate them to wait until the draft is over. fall on them.

“The fact that the Lions are generally so well off with their roster — because they’re so well off with the draft picks that they have — I feel like you could use that for either argument,” I said on this week’s podcast. “You could say, ‘Wow, they’re in a really good place that they don’t need an immediate shareholder right now.'” They can take risks like (trading up). They are in a position to choose a luxury option,” as many people like to put it.

But in the same task they are now so well they shouldn’t. they don’t ought to force anything. They are in such a relaxed position that they can just let the project get to them and take whatever they want and whatever position they want.”

Then there is the option trading of six. It’s always a good strategy to pool as many picks as possible to load up on young, cheap players and maximize the hitting potential of your picks.

But will the Lions have a dance partner at six? There’s an argument to be made about the sixth overall pick, player talent dropping to second, which could challenge Detroit’s ability to move down.

This is our big discussion on this week’s podcast and it begins with Part Two. Here’s a breakdown of the topics and timestamps on this week’s show:
