Pyongyang has tested a new underwater nuclear-armed attack drone
North Korea’s military this week tested an attack drone whose purpose was to “create a large-scale radioactive tsunami” by detonating underwater.
North Korea this week tested a new underwater nuclear attack drone in response to US-South Korean military drills, North Korea’s state-run KCNA news agency reported on Friday.
From Tuesday to Thursday, the North Korean military halted the southern Hamgyong province and tested this new weapon system, which aims to “create a large-scale radioactive tsunami” by detonating underwater. KCNA reported that the navy and destroyed enemy ships and ports. Received in Seoul.
Proliferation of exercises
“This underwater nuclear attack drone can be sent to any beach or port and towed by a surface ship,” KCNA reported. At the time of the underwater explosion, the drone traveled at a depth of 80 to 150 meters for 59 hours and 12 minutes.
The North Central Military Commission of the Labor Party initiated the tests “to warn the enemy against a real nuclear crisis and to check the reliability of the nuclear defense force”. North Korea fired several cruise missiles on Wednesday, according to the South Korean military, which is currently conducting large-scale joint exercises with the United States.
North Korea views all such drills as a rehearsal for an invasion of its territory and has repeatedly warned of a “massive” response. The new missiles and tests come a week after Pyongyang test-fired its second intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in 2023, the Hwasong-17, a more powerful missile.
