northwest Basketball star Veronica Burton was named No. 7 overall in WNBA Draft by Dallas Wings and that moment coupled with a phone call from one of the greatest professional athletes of all time.
Tom Brady I called Burton to congratulate her on making it to the pros. Burton is a native of Newton, Massachusetts. Brady tells her he’s known her father since he was with him New England Patriots. Steve Burton is a Boston-area reporter for WBZ-TV.

“Hey Veronica, what’s up? Just wanted to congratulate you on enlisting. Four-time Big Ten robbery leader, I know you made it to the final for the Nancy Lieberman Award, and she’s all-American, and now you’re now a WNBA,” Brady said. Congratulations”.
“I know the Burton family very well. I have known your father for a long time, your brother [Austin]. Just know that I always cheer you up from afar and wish you good luck. You’ve had an amazing career and we know you embody everything about the spirit of the community. Veronica Burton was glowing after the call from Tampa Bay Buccaneers star.
She said, “That was Tom Brady, the Goat player – the greatest player of all time – wish me congratulations. That means more than anything. He’s the best.”
Burton was a standout player for the Wildcats during her first season. She averaged 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game. It also led Division 1 in the number of steals per game, with an average of 4.
