Hulu has released the first look at Meryl Streep in Season 3 of “Only Murders in the Building,” via a teaser that will air during Sunday night’s Academy Awards.
The 30-second video introduces Streep as “a surprise you’ve never seen coming” before it cuts to the Oscar winner fumbling a line during what appears to be a table reading. “Oh my God, that’s me!” Streep says between fits of nervous laughter. “I’m so sorry. It’s me, isn’t it.”
Only Murders in the Building follows three strangers – Charles, Oliver and Mabel (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) – who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves caught up in a single crime. After a suspicious death occurs inside an exclusive Upper West Side apartment building, the trio with their intimate knowledge of true crime go on a hunt to find the killer and finally uncover the truth. As they record their own podcast documenting the case, the three uncover the intricate secrets of the building dating back years.
The third season begins as the trio work to find out who killed Ben Glenroy (Paul Rudd). In the Season 2 finale, which aired this past August, viewers watched Glenroy die on stage while performing in the Broadway play opposite Charles.
Streep’s casting was announced in January via an Instagram video shared via Gomez’s account. She is credited with appearing in a recurring role.
“Only Murders in the Building” hails from co-creators and writers Martin and John Hoffman (“Grace and Frankie,” “The Look”). Martin and Hoffman executive produce along with Short, Gomez, and This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman and Jess Rosenthal. The series is produced by 20th Television.
