As per a report on boxofficeindia.com, early estimates of the film have been reported at around Rs 65 crore nett, but a lot depends on the collections of the night’s showings. However, the film is expected to emerge victorious by scoring a stellar weekend of Rs 275 crore.
The figures recorded so far are only from the original Indian format, and there will be additional net collection of Rs 8-9 crore from the regional sectors.
The report also stated that reaching ₹275 crore was “unimaginable” even for a lifetime collection for a Bollywood release. The last time a Hindi release hit the target was during the release of Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer ‘WAR’ which hit screens in 2019. Coincidentally the movie was directed by the same director Siddharth Anand.
The report further adds that smaller B and C centers, including single screens, are recording high numbers, adding to the film’s success. While the upcoming Sunday collections are expected to be better than the opening day numbers, it remains to be seen if the film will surpass the huge Republic Day collections of around Rs 70 crore.
Meanwhile, in metros and some other major hubs, collections are expected to slow.
“Pathan,” starring Shah Rukh in his first role in five years, finished fifth with $5.9 million from just 695 screens.
According to Variety, the film is breaking North American box office records – most notably, the film had the biggest opening day ever for a Hindi-language production on January 25. The report also stated that “Pathaan” pulled in an estimated US$1.86 million in opening day gross across 694 North American locations, which is the best per-theater average for any current release.
