The red carpet for the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards is currently underway, with stars including Lizzo, Blackpink, Jack Harlow, and more stepping out on the big night.
Compared to award ceremonies in Hollywood, VMAs often see stars ditching and flaunting their personalities, usually choosing more fun, sloppy and experimental outfits over tuxedos and skirt outfits. Fashion history was previously made by stars like Lil’ Kim, who stepped out in a purple one-sleeve jumpsuit and a scalloped nipple jumpsuit in 1999 and Lady Gaga in an infamous meat dress in 2010.
This year’s event, which takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, will feature performances by the likes of Lizzo, Blackpink and Bad Bunny with Nicki Minaj, Harlow and LL Cool J hosted. Styles, Olivia Rodrigo, and others who were nominated for this year’s awards, close the “black” carpet.
