Before reaching an agreement with Riley Keough and Michael Lockwood over Lisa Marie Presley’s estate, Priscilla Presley reportedly had one request that was denied almost immediately: She wanted to be buried next to her late husband, Elvis Presley.
TMZ I reported Thursday morning, citing knowledgeable sources, that the request was not a starter and Priscilla retracted her request without much discussion. Priscilla asked to be buried next to the King of Rock and Roll at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.
Problem is, Elvis’ mother, Gladys, is buried to his right in the Meditation Garden, and his father, Vernon, is buried to his left, which means that if Priscilla gets her way, he’ll be one of Elvis’ parents to move on. For good measure, the late Lisa Marie’s son, Benjamin, who died in 2020, is buried to Vernon’s left. Lisa Marie is buried next to Benjamin.
The development comes just days after ET confirmed that Priscilla, Lisa Marie’s daughter, and Lisa Marie’s ex (and the father of their two minor children) all made a deal over Lisa Marie’s estate, putting an end to a months-long battle that, according to sources, soured Priscilla and Riley’s relationship.
Priscilla’s attorney, Ronson J. Shamon, to ET: “All parties have reached a settlement and the families are happy.” “They are very excited about the future.”
And Riley’s attorney, Justin Gold, agrees, telling ET, “Riley is so happy. She’s an amazing woman with a bright future.”
The terms of the settlement were not disclosed. The attorneys have until June 14 to file terms and also plan to file a motion to close settlement terms. The judge is expected to rule on this request on August 4.
The battle over Lisa Marie’s estate began the same month that Lisa Marie died in January. After ET confirmed with Lisa Marie’s rep that Graceland would go to her three daughters — Riley and their 14-year-old twins Harper and Finley — Priscilla went to court to formally challenge the “validity and validity” of an alleged 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s trust by appointing Riley co-guardian.
At the time, Priscilla alleged that “there are many issues surrounding” the amended credit, and asked the judge to declare the amendment invalid. The battle over the estate soon added a third party, when Lockwood requested – and was granted – to be appointed ad hoc trustee so that he could represent the twins’ interest.
The estate battle would eventually affect the family, as a source told ET that Riley and Priscilla did not communicate. The source added that Riley would have preferred to “settle this dispute privately.”
“She’s sad that this has turned into a public matter and she knows her mom would never want that to happen. Riley is very tense right now and is trying to maintain a positive attitude and outlook ahead of the release of her new series,” the source said. He said. “Her daughter and husband keep her in good spirits.”
While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, TMZ Reports are that in exchange for dropping her claims about who controls Lisa Marie’s trust, Priscilla will walk away with millions of dollars once a judge signs off the deal.
