Buckingham Palace confirmed on Wednesday that Meghan Markle will not attend King Charles’ coronation next month – and at least one member of the royal family is said to be relieved by the news.
Kate Middleton, 41, is said to be glad she won’t have to confront Markle, 41, after Prince Harry, 38, revealed private details of their 2018 spat over bridesmaid dress.
“It could have been uncomfortable for Kate,” said an anonymous royal observer. Daily Mail Wednesday.
The source added that the future queen is not the only one that Markle Al-Hamad chose not to attend.
Charles Will [also] Be pleased,” declared the person. “The rest of the family [also] Be relieved that Meghan won’t be there.”
While Markle will stay home in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, Harry will head to London for the coronation ceremony alone.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “Buckingham Palace is delighted to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey on 6 May.” The Duchess of Sussex will stay in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
While royal watchers have long suspected Kate and Markle’s strained relations, Harry revealed details of the feud between the two sisters-in-law in his bombshell memoir, Spear, which was released in January.
In the controversial book, Harry claims Kate started a passive aggressive argument via text message four days before her 2018 wedding to Markle, leaving the “Suits” star “crying on the floor.”
Kate’s daughter, Princess Charlotte, now 7, was due to act as a bridesmaid at the royal wedding. According to Harry, Kate texted Markle to complain that the young man’s dress did not fit properly.
The two women reportedly had a tense “back and forth” text exchange that greatly upset Markle.
However, when the incident was later leaked to the media, reports claimed that it was Markle who made Kate cry.
Palace officials have allegedly refused to issue a public statement refuting such reports, which has angered Harry towards his royal relatives.
In her 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle stated that she was actually the one crying during the altercation and complained that the staff refused to correct the record.
Meanwhile, Markle too I skillfully shadowed her husband’s sister in the last year Documentary series on Netflix “Harry and Meghan.”
On the series, the actress-turned-podcaster claimed she wore “ripped jeans and [was] Barefoot” when Kate and her husband, Prince William, arrived to meet her for the first time.
“Like, I’m a hugger, and I’ve always been a hugger. I didn’t realize this was really upsetting to a lot of Brits,” Markle claimed, implying she received a frosty reception from the future king and queen.
Kate’s camp clapped back at Markle’s trash talk, however, with an anonymous friend later telling People magazine, “Kate is a great hugger. She’s warm and friendly and greets everyone with a big hug and kiss. It’s only natural for her to be like that.”
