Two Republicans elected to the United States Congress presented a document to federal police on Wednesday that they said contained a “criminal scheme” involving Joe Biden and a foreigner, but did not make specific allegations against the president.
In this document, dated June 2020, Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national whistleblower at the time of the alleged events “regard the exchange of money for political decisions,” in a letter to the US Federal Police by Senator Chuck Grassley and James Comer, the influential chairman of the House Investigative Committee.
Two elected members of the House of Representatives, who have been criticized in the past for costly investigations targeting unsubstantiated senior Democratic officials, have given the FBI a week to provide any relevant information.
“Indictment Program”
“This document is argued to contain an accurate description of how the alleged criminal scheme was used and its purpose,” they wrote to FBI Director Christopher Wray and his superior, Justice Secretary Merrick Garland.
After several investigations by Republicans targeting Joe Biden’s entourage, Wednesday was the first direct reference to the US president.
“The American people need to know if President Biden sold America and made money,” James Comer said in a statement, without giving details of the actions the president could be accused of. Democrat.
The White House responded by calling the investigation another example of Republican efforts to target the president for political gain. “For more than five years now, Republicans in Congress have launched baseless, politically motivated attacks without providing evidence,” said Ian Sams, a spokesman for Joe Biden. “They like to use invisibility,” he added, praising the president’s financial transparency.
Republicans in the House of Representatives have long announced their desire to shuffle the cards after the criminal and civil investigations into Donald Trump. The investigation into the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 under Joe Biden was specifically launched. For Democrats, the investigations are aimed at undermining Donald Trump’s alleged wrongdoing during his time in the White House.
