Capcom has announced that its video game sales have surpassed one million copies, known as the platinum level, with popular games already released continuing to sell additional copies. The number is through June 30, 2024. Interestingly, the new version series has updated the sales of the “Resident Evil” game.
The best-selling game is the Resident Evil 2 remake, which has sold 14.2 million copies, with an additional 300,000 copies sold. The game first went on sale in 2019 and received overwhelmingly positive reviews. It's no wonder it's selling so well that it's ranked third on Capcom's list.
As for the second part of Resident Evil 3 remake in 2020, although it did not receive very good reviews. But it also achieved good sales, as it sold 9 million copies, an increase of 300 thousand copies, while “Resident Evil Village” sold 10.1 million copies, and “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard” which sold 13.7 million copies. It was previously reported in March 2024 that the “Resident Evil” franchise had sold a total of 160 million copies.
Capcom is currently developing a new mainline “Resident Evil” game that will be created by Koshi Nakanishi, director of “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard”, as the lead producer. It is said to be released in late 2025 or early 2026. There are also rumors of remakes of classic games like “Resident Evil Zero” and “Resident Evil – Code: Veronica”. However, there has been no official launch yet.
