Not long ago, there was news that Huawei was working on a new chip to compete with the Apple M1, and more recently, more rumors have emerged that Huawei's ARM PC chip could achieve multi-core results similar to the current Apple M3. This event is not limited to Qualcomm being the only ARM chipset manufacturer in the Windows PC market.
User Fixed Focus Digital has revealed details of Huawei's new, yet-to-be-clearly-named chip called Kirin for PC. This chip is capable of achieving multi-core results at the level of the Apple M3.
The Kirin PC chip uses a Mali-920 GPU similar in performance to the Apple M2 GPU, and it's not clear which products Huawei will use the chip first. But it is expected to be the first product in the laptop range. It can also adjust the specifications, including the existence of several sub-models such as Apple M3 Pro, Apple M3 Max, etc.
The first Kirin chipsets for PCs are expected to be manufactured using SMIC 7nm technology, as the technology is not very new. This may cause performance to be less than that of current market leaders using 3nm technology, especially power management which is not as efficient as the Snapdragon X Elite and Apple M3.
There are rumors that Huawei and SMIC are looking to produce chipsets using 5nm technology, which can be seen in the Huawei Mate70 series that will be launched later this year.
