While the Broncos quarterback Russell WilsonHis current contract runs until the 2023 season, and there’s plenty of reason to believe he’ll get an extension to the franchise sooner rather than later.
General Manager George Patton said on Tuesday that while he would keep any discussion of the contract at home, they would get a deal with Wilson.right on time. “
After Wednesday’s practice, Wilson was asked if he’d consider extending, given that Keeler Murray She just got a new deal and Lamar Jackson is also in line with Baltimore.
“I don’t really worry about these guys and What are they doingWilson said at his press conference. “[It’s] wonderful for them. Kyler, obviously, is great for him. Obviously Lamar and his situation – but it really has nothing to do with me. I’m excited to be here. and I know that. I know I want to stay here for a long time, and I hope to stay for the rest of my career. And just, it has been such a blessing to be here with these guys. Being here with George Patton has been amazing to me. Coach Hackett, top notch, incredible mind, unbelievable way how he leads this football team and the rest of the coaching staff, the players and the organisation.
“This is a great honour. Every day I see it as treating every day as a new day. Treating every day as just getting into it. That is my focus, my only focus, is winning the Super Bowl for the Denver Broncos and more.”
The average annual value of the contract Wilson signed with the Seahawks in 2019 was $35 million. This is no longer the norm, with Murray’s extension being valued at $46.1 million annually.
It seems to be a matter of time, not whether Wilson will get a new contract. But it doesn’t necessarily look like it’s going to happen anytime over the next few weeks.
