Ukraine launched an artillery attack on a Russian border town, killing 18 people, a day after Moscow launched its largest air strike in all of Ukraine. Until 39 people died and hundreds of others were injured.
TASS News Agency Russian media reported on Saturday, December 30, 2023, that a major attack had occurred in the central region of the city of Belgorod, on the border with Ukraine. Initially, at least 18 bodies, including two children, were found, about 40 civilian buildings were damaged and 10 fires broke out, and now officials are under complete control.
This was stated by the Russian official, Ukraine launched an artillery attack. He stressed that there will definitely be a response. The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement, “This crime will not go unpunished. The Kiev government… is trying to divert attention from the defeat on the front line. We are provoking the same movement.”
The attack on Belgorod occurred after Russia sent drones and missiles at targets across Ukraine on Thursday night and into Friday afternoon. It was the largest Russian airstrike since the war began in February 2022, killing at least 39 people and wounding more than 150 others.
Although they rarely come out to admit it. But Ukraine has been attacking Russian territory near the border on an almost daily basis for more than a year, sometimes killing civilians. The latest accident is considered one of the bloodiest.
