A naked “grumpy uncle” hides a secret of loneliness and goodness in a man named Otto…
Even if I enter the theater, even if I leave the theater, or even if I am in the theater, I still think “A man named Otto” It still deserves to be a movie. “I talked about” of the year Another issue: This is the perfect movie for two people “Interpreting or understanding simple rules” To watch movies (Without being a film critic in any way)
In short, and many people have probably seen it already – the film is about Uncle Otto, a very rule-abiding and disciplined person who contemplates suicide by hanging himself in his house. He is a ruling man. Nothing can deviate from the rule. Even if any car enters the parking area where parking is prohibited. Even for 30 seconds, he won’t give up!
Shoes should be placed in an organized manner. Everything should be elegant. The pronunciation of a person’s name must be with the correct letter, we can see. “Some people are like this?” But in society, Otto has a reason in the past. To be someone like this…
Coming to the thing “Smooth” and “Hidden” In order to be visible almost all the time in the film, the cut lines, frames and floors are organized into fixed square frames. To reflect Otto’s precision and discipline. Bored to him, he was ridiculed many times in a funny way, for example, he called to ask to turn off the water and gas to the house. I found the answering machine and quickly hung up. Besides screaming “Fucking Robot Fucking Robot!”
A robot is a robot -And he himself is not a human being. Live life according to the rules 100%.. Otto is a robot, not a human (touch-operated).
There is another nice scene…. Two girls call him Otto to Otto, and he gets upset, saying that Otto is not a robot.
“Automatic is automatic. The technical system is perfect. There is no spirit, no care, no indulgence. It is him. Whatever his name may be, Otto or Mansuang is a man crazy about rules.
The movie is 15 minutes long, if you look at it, you might not notice anything. But if we look closely… we will see a funny man. Who likes to walk and pretend “Robot” He often meets Otto, which is why the movie makes fun of him.
In this movie, which is 2 hours and 6 minutes long, there are always loud noises, whether it’s the sound of people, the sound of trains, the sound of doors closing, the sound of cars, whatever it is, it’s very loud. “VOICE RULES!!!” Which echoes Uncle Otto.
I wondered while watching the movie for a long time…why was the black cat included so often? Otto often looked at her, scolded her, and sometimes sympathized with her. But no matter how angry he was, when he died, Otto rushed to help.
This cat is Otto…he’s lonely. Alone in the corner of the building when he froze and was about to die. The cat is sleeping soundly and still.
It’s Otto’s life, he’s been alone for a long time. Due to the death of his wife, the film slowly goes back in time until we understand why Otto is the kind of person he is. A violent, angry, nervous, moody person.
But when someone is in trouble (like a neighbor, or the person who jumped off the train tracks to commit suicide, or a cat, or a driver), he’s always the first person to jump in to help….Otto is a good guy.
There are many films I teach about films at universities, at the Bank of Thailand or Bangchak Gas Station, College of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, as well as Siam Museum activities. I usually keep a list.
The Graduate, American Beauty, Psycho, 400 Blows, 8 1/2, City of Light Today I’d like to add another story: A man named Otto, not Auto!.
