Progressive Party’s statement on the disqualification of Patipat Shantipada’s membership
Dear brothers and sisters, powerful people of the country.
Henceforth the Move Forward Party is fully committed to acting as an “Opposition Party”. Push forward the agenda for progressive change and prepare to be good governance for the people in the next election.
Today (28 September 2023), the new executive committee of the party and representatives of the Progressive Party met together. To formulate work guidelines that support the party’s goals as follows:
1. The party must move forward as the Joint Assembly agrees that the “Total Opposition” new party leader, Saidawat Dulathon, will assume the position of “Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives” to lead the activities of the opposition in the House as per the terms of the current constitution.
2. The joint meeting understood that such a decision would push the MPs from the party further. Cannot hold the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives or Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. As provided in the Constitution, Article 106
3. The party leader agreed to a joint meeting. Efficient, transparent and more connected to the people to push the House including helping to drive the process of inspecting the Parliament building as per the policy announced earlier. 4. I agree that the work of the Joint Meeting is to further develop the work of the Assembly. and protect the interests of the people but the joint assembly still stresses the importance of acting “full opposition” is not possible if Patipat continues his status as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. 5. The joint meeting therefore resolved that Badipat still affirmed his desire to continue to serve as the Vice-Chairman of the Council. Therefore Patipat should be removed from the party membership of the Progressive Party. As per the provisions of Forward Party Regulations and Constitution. A “total resistance” is possible so that the party can move forward, a condition very important to the party’s forward work.
6. The joint meeting believes that Badipat can no longer be a member of the Forward Party. But he will continue to advance the policies he promised before he was elected to the House of Representatives. All political parties must remain neutral in the performance of their duties as stipulated in Article 80 of the Constitution.
