Paul Hickey says the performance of small businesses this year is a good sign
Paul Hickey, co-founder of Bespoke Investment Group, said the strength of small-cap stocks is a sign of market resilience despite uncertainty about the Fed’s tightening path. The Russell 2000 is up about 8% this year, outperforming the S&P 500’s 5.4% gain.
“There was some really strong underlying resilience in the market in the face of tightening financial conditions,” Hickey said on CNBC’s “Extra Closing Bell” Monday.

January wholesale inventories and consumer credit data are due on Tuesday
