“Rings” are small items that were once just jewelry that could be worn on the finger.
But who would have thought that today the ring was about to become a “smart assistant” with the ability to monitor and evaluate the user’s health..
After long rumors, Samsung yesterday officially launched the Galaxy Ring smart ring at MWC 2024, the world's largest communications technology trade show. Which was held in Barcelona, Spain
So what's so interesting about the Galaxy Ring smart ring that Samsung just launched?
1. Galaxy Ring comes in 3 colors and 9 sizes.
Samsung provided a beta version of the Galaxy Ring for demo.
There will be 3 colors: black ceramic, gold, and platinum silver.
There are 9 sizes in total, including size 5 (equivalent to size S, suitable for small fingers) to size 13 (equivalent to size XL, suitable for large fingers).
What's interesting is the larger the ring the larger the battery size as well.
This means that a larger ring will last longer. The ring is small in size..
2. User health tracking features
Inside the Galaxy Ring there are different sensors to track the user's health, similar to the user health tracking feature in smart watches, e.g
– Heartbeat detection
– Sleep detection
– Respiratory rate
– Track ovulation and menstrual cycle days for women
With this health information, users can view it through the Samsung Health app.
3. My Vitality Score assesses overall health and well-being.
In addition, the Samsung Health app has a feature called “My Vitality Score.”
This is a feature that helps evaluate the health and well-being of users.
Evaluation and calculation criteria come from
– Sleeping hours and behavior
– Various activities during the day
– Heart rate at rest
– Heart rate variability
This feature will then give you a My Vitality Score, or a score ranging from 0 to 100 points.
The highest score is 100, which means that the user's health and well-being are at an excellent level.
4. Distinctive reinforcement cards provide health tips.
Galaxy Ring users can also use the “Booster Cards” feature in the Samsung Health app, which has key capabilities that include:
– Health goals can be set
For example, set a goal that I want to sleep 8 hours a day.
– Booster Cards feature can also provide health tips.
And if the user has inappropriate behavior, the feature will also notify you.
For example, if the user does not get enough sleep. Or sleeping incorrectly
The app will send instructions so how should I adjust my sleep? Giving the body adequate and appropriate rest.
There are also reports that Samsung is planning to add additional new features to the Galaxy Ring before it goes on sale, such as:
– Payment via Galaxy Ring
– Blood glucose test
– Blood pressure detection
In the future, Samsung may introduce artificial intelligence and Bixby, the smart assistant. Be part of Galaxy Ring to help provide health tips to users.
For example, a Chatbot has been added to the Samsung Health app to provide more health insights.
However, it must be noted that the AI capabilities that Samsung will include may come with a subscription-based “service fee.”
Including all these features will only be available through the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
Finally, at the event, Samsung only launched the Galaxy Ring.
Samsung has not yet said when it will actually go on sale, but it has confirmed that it will go on sale during 2024 or this year for sure.
As for the price, it has not yet been revealed how lightweight or powerful it is.
It ends with interesting information.
Did you know: Apple is rumored to make a smart ring, “Apple Ring,” as well.
