Mr Thanathorn spoke of the importance of using this Senate election as an opportunity to fix Thailand. This is why he had to visit more than 30 provinces in the last one month. If we want to amend the constitution to bring independent bodies back to a fairer footing but don't bother electing senators this time, we won't have ideological senators. And we will have senators issuing such orders. And the opportunity to fix Thailand will be lost for another 5 years so the opportunity is in our hands. What happens in the next two months is no less important for the country's development than the general election, Mr. Thanathorne said. Although many people wonder how they can compete with him. Each district has only votes to find people to coordinate and run. But he sees a trend that may not be the case today. If you look at the number of people traveling across the country to apply for the Senate, it's not as many as you might think. About 1,900 people on the first day and about 1,500 on the second day for a total of about 3,400 people.
Mr. Thanathorn added that 200,000 people were originally expected to apply for the Senate, but now he believes it will not reach that number. There won't be that much competition, so there are opportunities for those who want to improve in Thailand. If you apply, chances of promotion at district and provincial levels are high. It is not that difficult if you consider this field carefully. Independent candidates are more likely to act.
“Also, it's difficult to recruit people to apply for the Senate because the recruits have to pick up the application forms themselves by May 20-24, and they have to submit all the documents. On election day, you actually have to vote. The selection process is a complete mess. So the lockdown process is very difficult. Of course, every No one can find anyone to organize every business in the district,” said Mr. Thanathorne.
Mr. Thanathorne further said that no one has done such a comprehensive ballot locking process. Only the politicians from the great houses can mobilize such a crowd in every province. He has yet to see that there is no incentive for ordinary politicians to come to play in the Senate arena. The main house has no motivation to have its own senator because it can't do anything in their interest, and therefore, the process we think will happen will not happen. At first, he thought so because he had heard a lot that each district would have a committee of 10 per profession. At first, I feared that we would surely lose, and that no senator or ideology would escape. As time went on, he began to see that this was not the case.
“I think there is an opportunity. The opportunity is in everyone's hands. To date, we haven't seen it done properly. And I believe if there are enough people in the district and there are enough honest-hearted independent candidates for the profession, they can help vote.
