Referring to feature American pop singer Lana Del Rey and sister trio Haim on the album, one of the women noted, “I don’t really like how males can sing entire verses in Taylor’s songs and Chaim and Lana were supportive of singing.”

Swift release announced From Midnights onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards in late August.

While receiving the Video of the Year award, the singer used her acceptance speech to announce the album.

“I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my new album is coming out on October 21. And I’ll tell you more in the middle of the night,” she said.

Swift later described the 13-track album as “the stories of 13 sleepless nights spread throughout my life”.

She wrote, “This is a musical group written in the middle of the night, a journey through horror and sweet dreams.” “The floors we walk and the demons we encounter. For all of us who have cast down on us and turned around and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go looking – in the hope that perhaps, when the clock strikes 12 … we will meet ourselves.”

In the nights before the album’s release, Swift would drop song names in the middle of the night, in a TikTok series she called Midnights Mayhem With Me.

Midnights is likely to become one of the best-selling albums of 2022.
