Tinoc Huerta, best known for playing the villainous Namor in Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” is responding against the sexual assault allegation made against him by musician María Elena Rios. In a statement sent to diverse Posting on his Instagram, Huerta called Rios’ claims “absolutely false and baseless,” adding, “I can’t let it go unchallenged anymore.”
“About a year ago, I dated Elena for several months,” Huerta wrote. It was consensual at all times, as countless others attest. And throughout it was a loving, warm, mutually supportive relationship. However, after it came to an end, Elena began to misrepresent our interactions both privately and in front of groups of mutual friends.
He continued, “As a result, a few months ago, I engaged a legal team to initiate appropriate actions to protect my reputation and refute these irresponsible and false accusations that could cause prejudice and great harm.” “While I am by no means perfect, I know that these claims are simply untrue. While I will always work to better myself, I need to challenge false and offensive claims.”
Rios, a saxophonist and activist, publicly accused Huerta of sexual assault in a Twitter post in which she called the Marvel actor a “sexual predator”.
“I am extremely grateful to my family and the people who have supported me and I deeply appreciate everyone who is willing to consider the facts and think before rushing to an incorrect and unfair conclusion,” Huerta added in his statement.
Marvel has yet to confirm when Huerta’s Namor will reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his first appearance in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” A representative for Marvel did not respond miscellaneous Comment requests.
