The Swiss Embassy in Ankara is temporarily closed
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday announced the closure of the embassy and consulate in the Turkish capital. The situation is being closely monitored.
The Swiss Embassy in Ankara and Consulate in Istanbul are temporarily closed to the public due to the threat of terrorism. The Federal Department of External Affairs (FDFA) and representatives on the ground are closely monitoring the situation.
As previously reported by Bligh, FDFA confirmed to Keystone-ATS on Wednesday evening the embassy and consulate closures. A spokesperson cited “certain information about the threat of a terrorist attack” to explain the closures.
The spokesperson noted that FTAA and its representatives on the ground are in contact with Turkish authorities and partner countries to assess the situation.
