The Prison Department explains the case of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Therefore, in the case of Mr Thaksin, who needs to be treated in an external hospital for more than 60 days, the Director General has now issued a letter of approval. Report to the Permanent Secretary in accordance with legal procedures along with the opinion of the treating physician and other relevant evidence.

Also, it revealed the overall statistics on which the prisons department has sent sick inmates out of jail for medical treatment since October 1, 2022 – now totaling 149 cases, more than 30 days, 115 cases, more than 60 days, 30 cases, and more than 120 days, 4 cases.
