(CNN) Remember when TV stars just wanted to break into the movies?
Neither do I, because I’m so young. I am a child, I am a child. There was a time when television was seen as a stepping stone to the big screen.
But now the small screen isn’t so small anymore, and lots of stars are excited to perform there.
Let’s talk about one.
Something to find…
Consider me a huge fan of Jennifer Garner.
her Instagram account With her “imaginary cooking show” and positive videos, she brought me joy during the height of the pandemic.
In fact, Garner has been beloved since her starring role in the early days of Alias.
Now, she’s returning to television in the Apple TV+ limited series, “The Last Thing He Told Me.”
Based on the novel of the same name by Laura Dave, the film centers on a woman whose husband disappears, but not before warning her to protect his daughter. Garner plays a mother searching for the truth about her husband.
Garner also had a role in this year’s “Party Down” revival, as the delightful love interest of Adam Scott’s character Henry. she The AV Club said I loved writing on both shows.
“I would do anything to play this part,” Garner said of her role in The Last Thing He Said to Me. “I knew I had the ability to immerse myself in a role in a way I hadn’t in a long time, and I wanted luxury in the process.”
Now if only we could get “alias” reboots — which is saying something, because longtime readers of this newsletter know I’m not big on reboots.
The Last Thing He Said To Me stream begins Friday.
One thing to talk about…
Not revealing here, but “Succession” has had a pretty big episode lately.
Which brings up the topic of spoilers. In this day and age of social media, how do you avoid it?
You can always mute a thread on Twitter, but what happens when you go to Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook?
It’s not easy living a spoiler-free life, especially with a buzzy show like “Caliphate.” Even the debate over which actors are competing for the Emmys has spoiled it for some.
Personally, I don’t appreciate the pressure I feel to watch something right away or get away from social media just so it doesn’t ruin everything for me.
World first problem, I know.
You must listen to…
If James Hetfield had gotten what he wanted, Metallica’s new album wouldn’t be called “72 Seasons.”
“My vision was that I wanted this album [to be] It’s called Lux Æterna because that summed up all the songs for me, the kind of eternal light that’s always been inside us that’s probably just beginning,” the band leader told Loudwire. “I’m out-voted, which is great. 72 seasons is definitely more chewable.”
The heavy metal band’s 11th studio album contains an idea of how our older selves are shaped by our younger selves, which feels fitting for the group that formed in 1981 and has been rocking wildly ever since.
“72 Seasons” drops Friday.
There are fewer things I love more than Prince and podcasts, and CNN allows me to have both.
“The Prince Mixtape” will feature people who knew, worked with or loved Prince from afar, with host Nicole Perkins delving deeper into key moments in the late singer’s life. The world unfortunately has not been the same since Prince He died of an accidental overdose in April of 2016.
The new podcast Broadcast begins April 19th.
I can’t wait to watch…
American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing uses interviews, reenactments, and archival footage to tell the story of the 2013 bombing that killed three and injured more than 250 (a fourth person was killed days later while chasing the bombers).
He was An event that erects the nation and leaves it sad. American Haunting is streaming on Netflix.
We see a lot of Jeremy Renner and I, for one, are so grateful for that.
after he survived devastating accident On New Year’s Day, the “Marvel” star now has a new show (which was filmed before the accident). “Rennervations” is a four-part series based on the actor’s “lifelong passion for giving back to communities around the world by re-imagining unique purpose-built vehicles to meet community needs.”
It’s streaming on Disney+ starting Wednesday.
Welcome back, Midge.
The fifth and final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel kicks off with the first three episodes on Friday on Prime. We’ve taken this beloved show on a total ride, and as sad as it is to end, we know Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam “Midge” Maisel will remember why we first fell in love with the show.
Mazel Tov, Mrs. Maisel.
