Bai's father called to tell him the wedding schedule. But I got it wrong and misunderstood. Her father is getting married in a few weeks, just in time for his birthday. So she quickly booked a one-way ticket back home, some 1,700 miles, or nearly 3,000 kilometers, away.
Although Bai and her family had been in contact several times before her trip, no one seemed to mind that she misunderstood. Until she was about to board the plane on May 31.
On the morning of the trip, Bai sends a text message to her family saying that she will be boarding a plane to return home to attend her father's wedding. Her family tried to contact her again. They called her. But she did not answer the phone because the phone was on silent mode.
When Bai's plane was about to take off, she saw the message her family had sent. She called her father, who told her clearly this time: The wedding is scheduled to take place on his birthday next year.
At this point, father and son couldn't do anything. Besides laughing at each other and looking at it as a joke.
