Ford is raising the price of the F-150 Lightning for the fourth time—and the base “Pro” model has gone from $55,974 to $59,974, not including the $1,895 shipping fee. When the company announced Lightning in May 2021, the starting price for the Pro was $39,974, $20,000 less than its current price. Other models in the lineup, such as the Lariat and Platinum, are also experiencing price hikes.
according to Auto News, the Lariat is up $1,500 to $77,869, and the Platinum model is now $99,969, up $1,200. (Those prices Do Including shipping charges.) Only the more attainable XLT model seems unaffected—it went up to $63,474 in December and appears to have stayed there. However, this is quite a jump from the original sticker price of $52,974.
while CNBC reports That the company has reintroduced the Lightning does not necessarily mean that the truck will be more affordable for consumers. Both the company’s consumer and professional websites noted that “the current model year is no longer available for retail orders” due to high demand. And of course the price hike.
The competition isn’t much better. Pricing for Rivian’s R1T starts at around $73,000, and the company is telling folks taking reservations today that they shouldn’t expect delivery until at least the fall of 2023. Meanwhile, prices are subject to change, and delays are always a possibility.
