An indecent photograph prompts Auschwitz to call its visitors to order
Following a tweet that sparked a scandal, monument officials are asking tourists to “respect the memory of the million people killed.”
A tweet by a British journalist last Saturday did not go unnoticed. Her photo shows a woman posing on the path to Auschwitz, the former largest Nazi concentration camp. Today a collection and a place of history commemorating the 1.1 million people killed during World War II, the memorial welcomes visitors from all over the world. And it’s clear that some people don’t have the right manners. Forcing center managers to recall rules of conduct.
“It’s like this after Maria Murphy’s press release.Britain’s new channel“, condemned the actions of a tourist at the site. “Today I had one of the most intense experiences of my life. Unfortunately, not everyone seems to be enjoying it so seriously,” he wrote on his professional Twitter account.
Memory itself condemned the act, except for those who used the stage. He recalls: “For our audience the images represent an enormous emotional and documentary value. Photos help us remember. Visitors should keep in mind that when visiting the Auschwitz memorial, they are entering a former camp where more than a million people were killed. Honor their memory.”
Walk on the rails
This is not the first time officials have been forced to repeat the rules of civility. In the past, many visitors have already been disrespectful inside the memorial. Some, for example, walked the rails for a photo in 2019. These same rails were built to facilitate the dreaded “Final Solution.”
“There are better places to learn to walk on a balance beam than on a platform that marks the deportation of hundreds of thousands of people to their deaths.”
On the memorial’s Twitter account, officials wrote at the time: “When you come to the Auschwitz Memorial, remember that you are in a place where over a million people were killed. Respect their memory. There are better places to learn to walk on a balance beam than on a platform that marks the deportation of hundreds of thousands of people to their deaths.”
Tik Tok Trend “Paining”
On another social network, TikTok, young people created their faces to appear as victims of the Holocaust in 2020. Face-slimming makeup, striped pajamas, or a yellow star hanging from a dress: staging an “attack” for the memorial.
So he had to do some more Blocking on Twitter Posting the following message: “The ‘victims’ who are popular on TikTok are hurtful and hurtful. Some videos are dangerously close to or already beyond trivializing history.
