The East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office reported that on December 28, a Soviet-era Antonov 24 (An-24) with 30 passengers on board crashed into a frozen river near an airport somewhere in Far East Russia, due to pilot error.
The prosecutor's office said the plane belonged to Polar Airlines. Landed safely on the Kolyma River. Near the city of Serica in the Yakutia region

Spokesman of the Prosecutor's Office of Transport of East Siberia. He stated in a statement that, “According to preliminary information, the cause of this event resulted from an error by the flight crew,” but no further details were revealed.
The prosecutor's office also released photos of the plane on a frozen river. A local newspaper published pictures of passengers safely getting off the plane.
Polar Airlines issued a brief statement that said: “An An-24 aircraft landed outside the runway at Sirika Airport… and there were no casualties.”
