After PlayStation announced a policy that requires players of the company's games available to play on PC to use a PSN ID to play. This was first used in the game “Helldivers 2” and there was such backlash from fans that it had to be cancelled. However, this requirement returns in the PC port version of “Ghost of Tsushima”.
Games that will be released on PS5 and PC at the same time, such as “Concord,” will also require a PSN account, despite fan opposition. The creator of the game said that the reason for using a PSN account is that it allows game fans to use a very important feature in playing Live Service games.
According to an interview, character designer Jon Weisnewski told Eurogamer that PSN will bring PC and PlayStation players together in a cross-platform gaming system
The PSN app will bring PC and PlayStation 5 players together for cross-play and cross-progression, he said. While this information may not come directly from PlayStation, it does show the game manufacturers’ guidance on future standard requirements.
However, this policy seems strange for some games since there is information that PSN is enforced when playing games that only have single-player modes like “God of War Ragnarok”. It remains to be seen if this will be implemented in the future. Does this policy apply to other PlayStation games released on PC?
