As you no doubt know, Pokémon Scarlet/Violet has been released to mostly positive press coverage, along with plenty of constructive criticism. Obviously, the games could have taken a bit more time to develop, as they were technically finicky around the edges on day one. Fans have echoed that sentiment, imploring Pokémon Co to work on patches to fix a host of issues.
Pokémon Scarlet/Violet arrived in the state with Pokémon fans talking about the overall quality of the recent Pokémon games, with many saying Pokémon Co. You have to slow things down to ensure quality releases. This will result in fewer Pokémon games over the years, but hopefully higher quality ones.
Takato Utsunomiya, Chief Operating Officer of The Pokémon Company, has overheard these chatter among the fan base. In an interview with Comicbook.comUtsunomiya opened up about the idea of stepping back from the pace of releases in order to adjust each upcoming title a little more.
“I think in general, if you look at the past, the path we’ve taken so far has been this constant release, we’ve always been releasing products regularly on a fairly steady kind of cadence, you might say. The way we’ve worked so far. I think we’re still working that way, but there are more and more conversations, as development environments change, about how we can continue to do that, while making sure we also ensure we deliver high-quality products.”
