Heyward, Robinson and Oldcon were the last three draft picks for the Steelers. Heyward’s deal should total roughly $3.815 million with a $155,000 signing bonus and a $743,000 cap fee this year. Robinson’s deal comes to approximately $3.77 million with a signing bonus of $112K and a cap fee of $733,000. Oladokun’s numbers are smaller across the board, a deal worth about $3.75 million with a roughly $90,000 bonus and $727,000 max.
Listed as a narrow end and tied to the center number, Heyward captures the number 83, but will likely wear a lot of hats along the Steelers attack. He will also need to get a role in special teams. While he will compete with FB Derek Watt, the team could keep both on the 53-man roster to start the year, just as they did with Will Johnson and Roosevelt Nix years ago.
Robinson is a former RB right-back who played for a year at LB left-back with the Ole Miss, scoring 91 tackles in total. Downhill player, he should become more comfortable in coverage. And, like Heyward, he’ll need to convince Danny Smith to make the roster.
Oladokun was the second QB draft. After playing at South Florida and Samford, he ended up at South Dakota State last season, leading the team to a deep playoff before falling to Montana State. He has a good arm and mobility and will enter camp as #4 on the list.
Pickens included, and the team signed four of their seven selections. The only three not signed yet are first round QB Kenny Pickett, third round DL DeMarvin Leal, and fourth round WR Calvin Austin III.
