Destiny 2 launched with some strong new Strand aspects this season. Giants are sword-wielding gate-slashers with their new Banner mod. Hunters have spiky orbs circling the map. But witches? witches It flew very close to the sun.
Warlocks got a “Weavewalker” aspect, which greatly increases damage reduction, but you can’t shoot while in the mode, only floating and spawning threads while you do. Something fun about survival in PvE but in PvP? Oh, my God.
Firstly, there was a “normal” problem with it, which was that the damage reduction was crazy. You can shoot Honed Edge Izanagi’s head during Weavewalk, full raid boss mode. Then there was the fact that during a Weavewalk you could still grab the Rift Orb and run while you couldn’t be killed. This disabled the Rift from competitive play.
However, Weavewalker finally went a step further during the beta weekend when players discovered that even though you can’t shoot, you can use an exploit that allows you to use the glaive ability in melee to instantly exit the Weavewalk, allowing you to run as Annoying stabbing ghost. As such, Weavewalker is now disabled in all modes across the game with no return schedule:
There are said to be other strange interactions with Weavewalk as well. Something about the attached sagittarius friend. Something with chaos and heavy ammunition. So, even if they do fix the glaive, it’s possible that there are still other issues that need to be fixed before you can come back, lest you come back and there’s another new thing keeping everyone running on it because of some foolish ability. I’m not entirely sure how to “fix” something like being able to have an arc friend while in mode, but we’ll see.
For me, I’m waiting for the uploads to fix before I play any of the new Strand sides. Most impressive, and not exploit-based, seems to be the Titan emblem which has some really wild swords after more sword buffs entered the game this season. This is the one I want to try more of, and uploads should be partially fixed sometime next week. Yes, I’m just lazy.
Weavewalker seems to have been gone for a while. Maybe they can fix the problem quickly, but something tells me that putting a “shield lock”-type ability in the game like this is about to cause more problems, if this number of strategies are discovered just a few days after the season launches.
