Hi, when does the group start pinning the game plan for their first regular season game? Or are they kind of working on it during the entire pre-season and really ramping it up after this weekend’s game? Thank you.
McCarthy used to spend a day or two at camp reserved for some representatives of the opponents’ playing plans at the start of the season, but with the cancellation of the fourth pre-season game allowing extra training time up to the first week, specific game planning generally waits until then. Lafleur said the coaching staff understands the concepts they are likely to build on in the early weeks of the season, and they continue to iterate on those concepts that are being applied now.
Good morning insiders! What does the team do during the week between the final pre-season game and Week 1? Are the players still running at Green Bay practice or are they being treated like a little send-off?
both of them. There are practices in addition to the leave mandated by the CBA.
Re-follow: References – I assume crews are grouped geographically to reduce travel costs? They pay it themselves, right?
heck no. The league pays the travel costs of all officials. Crews are assembled and assigned to games on a weekly basis with no (or very minimal) consideration for geography.
Good morning! Another question about DB69 and share it. Although he wasn’t fit for the two preseason games, did he play in combined practices against the Bengals and Pats?
Participated against the Bengals and in one practice with the Patriots.
As for Mike’s view on David Bakhtiari and limiting his practice on artificial turf, will this affect his availability on match day for matches played on artificial turf? If not, is the first time he plays on grass the perfect game? I imagine it would be more beneficial to practice on the playing surface you plan to play the next match on than to go into the match without preparing yourself and your body for the grass court.
Bakhtiari has played long enough in his career and I don’t think he needs to adapt to any surface. The bigger question is how much time he might need to recover after a game on the grass. We’ll find out after week two in Atlanta. As tough as the short Thanksgiving week may be, a little send-off after Detroit will probably be helpful.

I thought O-line had a great game. Even with our best player not playing, they still opened holes at full-back and kept our midfielders clean throughout the game. And this is against the key players on a tough defensive team. From Gute selecting them to jointly coaching and coaching Stenavich and Butkus, GB’s line is the envy of most teams. I feel more confident about my sides of the trenches this year than I have in a long time.
I’ve had no concerns, other than health, about the Packers’ offensive line all season. They’ve been bringing back more experience and prospects left than ever before, and it shows in the depth they’re building. There are a lot of question marks on the defensive line. While White and Slaton have shown they seem capable of making the big step they’re being asked to take, and while Wooden and Brooks certainly look like they belong in the rookies, this remains a number of unproven goods. promising? Yes. proven? No, but they are working towards a tried and true case.

The note about John Con speaks about how bouncy he really is. If he continues in the profession, he will be known as a good broadcaster, not an ex-player. In the early days of players entering the netroom, Pat Summerall, Frank Gifford and others would spend hours in a trailer looking at broadcast tape and practicing. A few generations knew Pat as a great broadcaster, not as an ex-player. It is a credit to their professionalism. So, kudos to John and Larry McCarren.
I am the second (or third, fourth or twelfth) movement.
No doubt today, I just want to thank you both for the way you handle complaints and sometimes the person trying to find fault with a player. Always find a positive in your answer. It’s not about being Homer, it’s about being human, and we need more of that in this world today. I salute you.
We appreciate hearing that. Happy Wednesday.
