Besides Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Assassin’s Creed Red, Ubisoft reportedly has four additional games planned, including a free-to-play co-op PvE game.
According to a new report, a number of Ubisoft studios have unannounced Assassin’s Creed games in development. They appear to be in various stages of planning and will see the series return to a yearly release schedule. The publisher announced Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Red, Hexe, and Jade last year during Ubisoft Forward, but four more games appear to be in the pipeline.
Assassin’s Creed VR and free games are in development
As I mentioned indoor gamesUbisoft is ramping up development on several games set in the Assassin’s Creed universe, with one of the site’s sources saying, “They’re all involved in Assassin’s Creed and a few other major franchises.” Assassin’s Creed Mirage is said to be slated for release in August this year, followed by an as-yet-unannounced VR game shortly after in September. Known internally as Project Nexus, the publisher appears to be gearing up for its unveiling later this year during E3, which confirmed it will bring in a “strong lineup” — a Nexus 2 is already being discussed, according to Insider Gaming.
Reported to be “in pretty good shape,” Codename Red is expected to arrive sometime in 2024 and will take us to Japan as the main entry in the series. This will be followed by Codename Invictus in 2025, and Codename Hexe in 2026.
Besides, and in the prototype and planning stages, there are three additional games set within the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Ubisoft Sofia appears to be working on Project Nebula, which will feature three different settings: Aztec Empire, India, and Mediterranean. Meanwhile, Ubisoft Chengdu is reportedly working on Project Raid, a free-to-play co-op PvE game for up to four players, which is said to feature characters from across the series. Furthermore, Ubisoft Annecy is working on a multiplayer title called Project Echoes, which will implement Ubisoft Scalar technology.
As with any leak, it’s worth taking this with a pinch of salt until Ubisoft confirms the games themselves, especially considering the publisher has canceled several games recently. What do you think though? Do any of these games take your fancy? Leave a comment below and let us know!
