Call after cancellation of mandatory mask in traffic
The U.S. government has appealed a court ruling overturning its obligation to wear a mask in traffic, with health officials calling the move “essential to public health.”
The U.S. government announced Wednesday that it would appeal against a court ruling that made it mandatory to wear a mask on public transportation in the United States earlier this week. The judiciary said it would like to wait for the opinion of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the country’s main central health agency, before making a decision.
The CDC finally asked him to appeal on Wednesday, considering that wearing a mandatory mask in traffic was “essential to public health” against Govt-19.
“In light of the CDC’s assessment (…), the judiciary has begun an appeal process,” said U.S. Department of State spokesman Anthony Cole.
Tension in view
The appeal comes two days after a federal judge ruled that health officials violated their privileges by having to wear a mask on transportation, for example, planes, trains or even buses. In the process, the country’s major airlines relinquished control of the mask, followed by VTC companies such as railroads Amtrak or Uber.
Some officials later feared that if the Florida-based magistrate’s decision went unnoticed, it would reduce the CDC’s powers in the future. But the U.S. government’s call could complicate the situation and create a tension for travelers if it finally recovers its obligation to wear a mask, which was already hard to respect.
Wearing a mask is a very emotional thing, especially for maids and flight attendants, who have had to deal with the reluctance of many travelers over the past two years, with some engaging in violence. The FAA, the agency responsible for aviation safety in the United States, has reported 744 face-related incidents since the beginning of this year.
Rise in cases
“At this time, the CDC considers the mandate to wear masks indoors in traffic as essential to public health,” they wrote in a statement. “As we have already said, wearing a mask is especially beneficial in very congested and poorly ventilated areas,” they added.
The health agency said it would continue to assess the health situation to determine if such an obligation is needed in the future. Last week he decided to extend the duty to wear a mask on public transport until at least May 3rd.
The number of daily cases of Covid-19 linked to Omigran’s PA2 subtype is now increasing again in the United States.
