Joe Biden, 80, underwent surgery in February for a “minor” skin lesion that was found to be cancerous after tests, his doctor said Friday, adding that “all the cancerous tissue was successfully removed.
The cancerous lesion, which was discovered and removed during the US president’s routine medical checkup on February 16, “has no tendency to spread or metastasize,” the doctor said in a statement released by the White House. No additional treatment is necessary.” This, he wrote, distinguishes it from “more aggressive” forms of skin cancer such as melanoma. Kevin O’Connor also said the lesion “healed well.”
and considered in good health and fit to perform his duties
At the end of the medical examination on February 16, the doctor recalled that Joe Biden “spent a lot of time in the sun in his youth” and that he had undergone surgery for canker sores before he became president.
It concluded at the time that the 80-year-old president, who is seeking a second term in the 2024 presidential election, was in “good health” and “fit” to serve.
