WASHINGTON: Three charged in the death of the FBI’s former enemy No. 1

Three men have been charged in connection with the death of a former Boston mob boss who inspired several movies, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Thursday. James “Whitey” Bulger, who was serving a life sentence for eleven murders, was found dead in 2018 at the prison in West Virginia where he had been transferred.

All three were charged with criminal conspiracy to commit premeditated murder, Justice Department officials said in a statement. Two of the three men indicted Wednesday, Photios Ghias, 55, and Paul Dicologero, 48, “are accused of repeatedly striking Bulgar in the head, causing his death.” A third man, Sean McKinnon, 36, was charged with making false statements to a federal agent.
