It’s been more than four weeks since The Marvels hit cinema screens around the world. The film has been monetized by the Marvel Universe. According to statistics, the film grossed only $80 million. in North America and $197 million worldwide alone. This marks the first film in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to fail to gross more than $100 million at the box office.
Marvels debuted on November 10, 2023, and grossed just over $46 million domestically. This is considered the worst opening in the history of the MCU and something no one ever expected for a film in the franchise. And it continues to go up and down without surprise as the film approaches the end of its run. The box office still has not been able to surpass 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, which previously held the record for being the lowest-grossing film in the Marvel Universe.
However, this level of disappointment is normal. With the Marvel Universe being the most commercially successful film franchise of all time, grossing $29.8 billion worldwide across 33 films, what’s more, the MCU fanbase has opened up to lesser-appreciated works like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qunatumania in February. This has generated revenues of over $214 million in the United States and $476 million worldwide. Although the film received worse reviews than The Marvels.
