Watkins says Spain are the best team in the Euros, England have world-class players: PPTVHD36

Ollie Watkins admits that Spain are the better team, especially Lamine Yamal, who has become much better than he was at his age, but England also have world-class players.

Ollie Watkins, the substitute striker who scored a last-minute winner to secure England a 2-1 win over the Netherlands and send them through to the European Championship finals for the second time in a row, has revealed what he thinks ahead of their Euro 2024 clash with the Netherlands. Spain are a strong side in the final of the tournament, having been knocked out by their opponents in the final, the Ferocious Bulls. They are the best team at the moment, with confidence, but their Roaring Lions are no different and have world-class players in the squad. This should be an exciting game for sure.

It was a tougher journey than the ones we faced when we played Italy, Germany and France, the big teams. I feel they could be the best team in the competition so far.

“The Spanish midfield is very active, young, confident and decisive, but so is our team. We can score goals from anywhere and we have world-class players. So it will be a very exciting game. I can't wait to watch it and be a part of it. Hopefully we can succeed,” revealed the Aston Villa star.

Watkins describes youngster Lamine Yamal, who scored a stunning goal for Spain in the 2-1 semi-final win over France, as a young talent.

“Everyone saw what he could do. It’s not often that you score against France in a European Championship semi-final when you’re 16,” Watt-Jense added. “He had the world in his hands and he was much better than I was when I was 16 or 17.”
