Zendaya plays a former tennis prodigy turned coach in the first steamy trailer for Luca Guadagnino Challengerswhich was released on the Tuesday ahead of its September 15 theatrical release.
Zendaya appears as Tashi Duncan, the center of a tense love triangle on and off the court in the romantic sports drama. She is married to a losing streak champion, played by Mike Vest.
To get him out of his slump, Tachi sets up a match against a down-and-out player, Patrick (Josh O’Connor). It is no coincidence that Patrick is her husband’s ex-best friend and Tashi’s ex-boyfriend.
“I play for both of us, Tashi,” Patrick tells Zendaya’s character at one point in the trailer, leaving her to wonder how long it’ll take to win three players who know each other as the teens collide to show who comes out on top in later life.
Guadagnino has also directed the drama Cannibals Bones and everythingwhich starred Timothée Chalamet, Taylor Russell, W Call me by your namewhich starred Chalamet with Armie Hammer.
ecstasy Star also appeared in Spider-Man: No way home And Dune. O’Connor won an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Prince Charles in the hit Netflix drama the crown. And Feist generated sensation for his performance as Riff in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story.
